Simple. Sheer. Protest.

by admin on March 2, 2010

In New York, one woman screaming and a poster is a homeless person, not a protester. Someone should send that message to the organizers of the demonstration against American Apparel, “Best Features” contest. With conviction and skill as a primary production of Hamlet, the protester that someone wearing a burka debates about the merits of the objectification of women verses repression West conservative Islam. Spoiler Alert: both are bad! Thank God someone finally had the courage to point that out.

It’s about time someone finally spoke out against the faceless corporation, operating, especially since this particular company funds programs conservative clothes, while at the same time be sold at a youth market that not sure where your money. Unfortunately, the protesters walked right past the Urban Outfitters and went to American Apparel. The offense, “Best Features” contest, where the petitioners are encouraged to send photos of their behinds of online voting, not what has happened more empowerment of women, but is it really so bad? The protesters decided to do this means ass in the air (pun!) Protest in connection with a speech at the University of New York Susandra Taylor. Miss Taylor called for a protest on his blog to kick off a series of speeches campus entitled “From burqa to Tanga: Everything you need, and can change the total we need revolution.” Where expensive tank-tops and pants fit on that spectrum, I have no idea.

In addition, American Apparel is notorious for some very sexually charged advertisements. Having said that also are well known in the industry to show their models of the United Nations, airbrushed, with all faults and defects of ordinary people. This is the fashion industry as we speak, so the usual definition must include a weight below 100 pounds, be able to put one leg or two behind his head, and always having a look on her face or say “I want to have sex” or “I am currently having sex.” We’re going out on a limb and say that if American Apparel never decided to sell a burka, that would be inundated with slim fit shrouds filled attractive, curved women.
