Ferragamo menswear designer takes on womenswear

Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo said his menswear designer Massimiliano Giornetti on women will also have ready-to-wear. Happens Cristina Ortiz, who has worked with the Florence-based design of the house of fashion women’s collections during the past two years, the company said in a statement late Tuesday.

Ortiz shows his latest collection in Milan catwalk shows in September. Giornetti is working on the new collection for women Fall / Winter 2010.

Owned by the Ferragamo family, for which the supermodel Claudia Schiffer has been a model, is known for its silk scarves, ties, shoes and bags.
